Chapter 5 from The Bedford Book of Genres is about finding an appropriate topic to research and making a research proposal. The first step is to brainstorm possible topics. I knew I wanted to write about the disability community, but was not sure exactly what I wanted to research. The second step, preliminary research, helped me to figure out what I wanted to write about. I thought about the challenges I face and talked to others who are disabled and heard about the challenges in their respective worlds that they face. Step three is committing to a single topic and I now know I want to research the resources available to individuals with disabilities.

About Me

Hello! I am Gracie Strickland and I am currently a freshman at The Florida State University. My major is Media and Communications, and my minor is English. The summer before I began at FSU, I had my hip reconstructed and my life changed forever. My goal over the next four years is to improve resources for students with disabilities on (and off!) campus.
